Using Advanced Player Lists and the Asterisk Button
There are also player lists that Draft Dominator can generate for you to utilize during any given fantasy draft. These lists include: Depth Charts; Complimentary Players; and Position Tiers, and they are available by hitting the blue Asterisk button between the Filter and the Wrench buttons at the top of the player list column. Depth Charts
To sort the player list according to NFL depth charts, you can click the blue Asterisk button at the top of the player list column, and then select Depth Charts from the Advanced Player Lists pop-up box. Draft Dominator will then sort the available player list by each team's current depth chart at any given position (the Dominator defaults to a list of running backs by team depth chart) and then will present the ranking and fantasy points information for each player still available from that team.
If you wish to look at a list of wide receivers, go click on the blue RB button next to the player search box, and select the blue WR button. This list is useful after you have moved beyond the early rounds of the fantasy draft - if, for example, you think a rookie will displace a veteran starter in training camp, this is a quick way to find that player for selection late in the draft. You might also wish to handcuff a backup player to one of your stud players (draft both Julio Jones and Taylor Gabriel, for example, just in case Jones gets injured and Gabriel steps into the Falcons' starting lineup as a result). The NFL depth chart list can assist you in both of these scenarios. To go back to the full player list, hit the blue <Back to List button under the player search box.
Complimentary Players List
The Complimentary Players list is useful once you have proceeded into the draft for at least a few rounds. What this list does is to present fantasy players who face favorable matchups during weeks when your starting fantasy players draw a tougher matchup - the notion being that some weeks you may opt to replace your #1 quarterback (or your #2 running back) with one of the bench players who have an easier matchup.
Using the Complimentary Players list lets you draft bench players who should have good prospects in these instances. To access this list, hit the blue Asterisk button at the top of the player list column, and select Complimentary Players. For example, if a fantasy owner is in the tenth round of the draft, and has just rostered Derek Carr at quarterback, and now wishes to secure his top backup quarterback, the owner can sort the player list by hitting the blue Pos button and selecting the blue QB button, and then hit the Asterisk button and select the Complimentary Players list, which will then present a subset of available players sorted so that they face favorable matchups on the weeks that Car has harder defenses on the schedule. To go back to the full player list, hit the blue <Back to List button under the player search box.
Position Tiers List
The Position Tiers list is useful at many stages of the fantasy draft - for example before the draft begins, you can use this advanced list to help establish shortlists or Global Watch lists (these are discussed in other articles). To access this list, first hit the blue Pos button and sort for the position you wish to examine, and then click the blue Asterisk button at the top of the player list column, and select Position Tiers from the Advanced Player Lists pop-up box. Draft Dominator will sort the selected position using a dynamic clustering algorithm, and present players grouped by their fantasy prospects for the upcoming season, creating a Tier 1; Tier 2; Tier 3 and the Bench Tier.
Going back to the shortlist example above, if you have decided to slough off the quarterback position in an auction until the middle-to-late portion of the auction (when player prices are much cheaper), you could shortlist all the quarterbacks in Tier 3, which will help you to remember to start bidding on the quarterbacks in that Tier during the auction (before they are all winnowed away by your opponents). During a standard draft, if you would like to see a list of available players at a position by Tier at any given point in the draft, you can employ the Position Tiers list to help you zero in on the best available options at that juncture of the draft. To exit the Position Tiers list, hit the blue <Back to List button under the player search box.
